BVM Image Attracts Pilgrims to Texas Trailer Park
A Dalhart, Texas trailer park is getting a lot of out of town visitors. People are coming to Leslie Ochoa’s home to look at her bedroom window. On Halloween morning, a neighbor saw the Virgin Mary in the window pane.
Ochoa says the first time she saw the image is the way it appears now. People coming to see Mary bring Our Lady of Guadalupe candles and flowers. Since the sighting, they’ve prayed the rosary every night. The first night, people stayed until 10:30 p.m.
Ochoa: If I lose any sleep I’m more grateful to show them and I’m pleased to do it also. She’s also happy to light a stranger’s candle whenever she’s asked.
Since early Sunday morning when the image showed up, folks have been showing up from all over the Panhandle from Dumas, Stratford, Hereford, Cactus and Sunray.
Viola Kautz is one who came to observe. I read it in the morning paper. Being Catholic, I wanted to come see for myself. I’m very familiar with our image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, it’s quite awesome.
Ochoa says something awesome happened to her last night in her home. I laid and I was talking to her. I felt like something was over my body and I could hear her, she was talking to me. I just couldn’t understand the words she was saying to me.
Ochoa says the shrine will stay up as long as folks continue to stop by.
Some visitors say they smell the scent of roses, apparently coming from a water hydrant in the yard.
Note: Dalhart is located in Dallam County, in the northwest corner of the Texas Panhandle
