From Researcher Stan Gordon
On the night of February 24, 2009, two people walking a dog near West Chester, PA, observed a light phenomena in the sky which they are trying to find an explanation for. It was about 8:25 p.m. as the couple was walking south in an area which was very dark, quiet, and had no street lights, that their attention was drawn upward to the clear star filled sky.
What they observed were five, or six very bright white flashes of light which lit up the entire sky. While one flash seemed to be more off in the distance, most of the flashes seemed to come from above and illuminate the sky in all directions. One witness stated, "they were like an extremely bright spotlight shining down on a very large area." The exact location from where these flashes originated from was very difficult to determine, since each burst was very quick, and did not seem to originate from a specific direction, but just from overhead.
It was after the first bright flash that a sound unlike thunder was heard. One of the observers described the sound as a muffled, soft boom with each flash. The other said that it seemed like a metallic thud, like in a tunnel, but not a metal on metal sound. There were approximately 30 seconds to two minutes between each burst of light.
Both observers were certain that what they saw was unlike any lightning bolt or flashes of lightning that they had ever seen. Both people have seen the Northern Lights, and one witness commented when the flashes were first seen, that it looked similar, but did not have any colors.
They also feel certain that it was not fireworks, or a power transformer explosion, which both have seen. One witness did attempt to call their local power company to find out if there had been any local power transformer accidents in the area, but they were unable to obtain any information.
I contacted the Philadelphia-Mount Holly, National Weather Service forecast office, which services the Chester County area. I was told that at the observation time, the sky was clear, there was little wind, and temperature was in the 20's. There was no thunderstorm activity in the area.

I too saw a bright turquoise-esce light illuminate the entire sky while going from Merrillville, IN to Akron, IN on highway 30 eastbound. It was like lightning it was so bright, but only lasted a second maybe. I saw no source of the light. Stunned initially, I didn't think much of it until I saw another flash about a minute or two later. Perplexed, it was on my mind all night. It was about 3:00 A.M. and snowing like crazy. I don't recall the exact date, but it was sometime in early January. Another witness was present, and saw the same thing.

This is a copy of a report that I made in Nov. 2008:..."West Virginia, Bright Flash Date: November 21, 2008 Time: 3:30 - 3:45 p.m. Hello Brian, Just a note to tell you about last week. On Friday, 11-21-08 at 3:30-3:45pm eastern. My wife and I were sitting in the living room and saw a bright flash. It was as if someone in the room took a picture with a flash, except the light came through and around the closed blinds on the south, east, and north of the room. We looked at each other and confirmed we both saw it, we heard no sounds, and I saw nothing or anyone anywhere. Seems to coincide with some of the meteor reports you've had lately. But, being in West Virginia, we're quite a distance from those sightings. Hope all is well, take care. Thank you to the witness for their report. HBCC UFO Research

hey, I just wanted to say that I saw a strange object as well on Feb. 20, around 8:00 PM. It was a very bright light and was quite a distance away. At first I thought it was a star that may have exploded, maybe something like a nova but very far away. I came out a bit later and found that it was not only fading away but was moving west. I had thought that it may be a comet but there was, of course, no tail. I just wanted to post this and see if anyone else may have seen something. I'm in Paterson, NJ.

hi, at our place we are within one km of a power substation distrubution point, one time a car crashed into some powerlines or something similiar, effecting the substation and the sky lit up green and white, big flashes lighting up the sky. also strange grinding noises. the power dimmed and went out one of the times. sounds like what is happening, some sort of power disruption or overload problem causing it to flash up the sky. it has happened a few times.
