UFO HAS CAUSED FIRE IN THE O'HIGGINS FOREST REGION
Residents of the community of El Huepe, in the O'Higgins Region, blamed an unidentified flying object as being the cause of a fire over the weekend which was brought under control by CONAF personnel, firefighters and carabineros.
The testimony of this unusual incident during the [soccer] match on Saturday night [Feb 14] around 22:00, related to a strange light that was seen moving from west to east and growing larger just as a fireball before it fell into a nearby field, causing a great brightness resembling a welding arc and bringing people nearby running to the spot as they thought an airplane had crashed, but did not hear any explosion. Approximately 10 minutes after the fall there was a loud noise similar to a turbine for about two seconds.
According to witnesses, at the scene was a circular outbreak of fire about the size of a car, but in unusual colors including shades of blue and red, different from those usually known.
Commissioner Captain Mario Mora Romero said that policemen who investigated the situation found no evidence that these were remains of a satellite or weather balloon.
According to Klaus von Storch, officer of the Air Force, he noted that on the same day and hour, he saw something very similar in the skies of Lake Rupanco in Osorno.

Vecinos de la comunidad de El Huepe, al interior de la Región de O’higgins, señalan a un objeto volador no identificado como el causante del fuego de un incendio que movilizó durante el finde semana a personal de la CONAF, carabineros y bomberos.
Los testimonios acerca del extraño suceso coinciden en que durante la noche del sábado, una luz extraña que avanzaba de poniente a oriente fue creciendo como una bola de fuego y cayó en un campo vecino provocando una luminosidad nunca vista, haciendo que los vecinos más cercanos se trasladaran al lugar pensado que había caído un avión, no obstante no escucharon ninguna explosión.
Según describen los testigos, el panorama era el de un foco de fuego redondo como del porte de un auto, pero de colorido poco usual, con tonos de azules y rojos, diferentes a los habitualmente conocidos.
