GLASS GLOB LINK TO 1884 NEBRASKA UFO LANDING

John Hubert, a member of the board of directors of the High Plains Historical Society, inspects a glob of green glass that fellow board member and McCook historian Walt Sehnert believes could have been created during a "UFO landing" northwest of Benkelman in 1884.

Sehnert said descriptions of the glass glob include "lime jello with cottage cheese."

Others describe it as "end-of-the-day" glass in the manufacture of Coca-Cola 7-Up bottles.

A summer visitor to the museum, Robert Golka of Massachusetts, is requesting that the museum and the DAR (which owns the piece of glass on display at the museum) be analyzed by the Corning Glass Institute.
