Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland - Round Fireball Bright Light
Date: January 1, 2009
Time: 11:17 p.m.
I was out the back having a cigarette, when a reasonably slow moving object was moving high up in the sky, it wasn't making any noise like you would expect from a helicopter or aeroplane. The object was a bright orange circular light, it looked like it was on fire, or a fireball. As the first one moved out of sight, another followed in the exact same path, then a third one followed after.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:
Hi John, The light was very similar, but the flight path of each of them was identical, no fluctuation, whereas the video ones seemed to be all over the place.
I noticed on your site that there was a similar sighting last year on the 2nd jan in the same area so it could be some sort of annual release of these balloons.

Bromborough, Wirral, England - An Orange Light
Date: January 1, 2009
Time: N/A
On Thursday 1st Jan I was about to go to bed when I looked out of my front window and saw an orange light which isn't unusual as I live on the flight path of Liverpool Airport. But then I noticed another light very close which did make me think bloody hell those two are close together. They seemed to be coming towards me, again I thought aeroplanes, but then I saw another light behind the first two then a fourth. I went outside it was a clear night but freezing cold I called my girlfriend to see them and as I watched I realized they weren't coming towards me but going upwards. There was no sound and they hung around for about 10 minutes. Is there anyone you can put me in touch with from the Bromborough area I could speak to or have you heard from anyone else about this?

Wickford, Essex, England - Round Orange Object/Light
Date: January 1, 2009
Time: 00:01
As with the entry from Billericay, spot on!! Wickford is @ 5 miles away and the objects were in the direction of Billericay. The fireworks from neighbouring properties had just begun to see in the new year. I did not see any fireworks from my position but I did see these objects. They certainly weren't aeroplanes or fireworks due to their movement, formation and colour. The nearest airport from here is Southend, the next would be Stanstead.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:
Hi, The images I saw were uniform in colour and didn't appear to have a light source ie candle or bulb. The formation appeared to be far from random. The object at the front was the same distance ahead of the pair in the middle, as the one at the rear was away from them. The pair rotated from being side by side to above and below. Straight after this manoeuvre all four objects ascended staying the same distance way from each other. I would say that the objects were solid powered and controlled rather than paper balloons being guided by the elements. I am trying to find a lead to plug my phone into the computer, when I find it I will e'mail you the image I have.

Over Clydebank Greenock And Gourock, Scotland - Round Orange Balls
Date: January 2, 2008
Time: 7:20 p.m.
The extract below was taken from another website.
http://www.ufoinfo.com/sightings/uk/080102.shtml
My experience echo's this, with some variations on times and objects , though the object was exactly the same. It was about 7.40 pm, I was driving home down Hawthorn Street in Clytdebank towards my home in North Clydebank. I looked up in the sky over Clydebank straight above me and could see this orange glowing ball in the darkness not too far away from me and was travelling horizontally at speed. I stopped to rub my eyes as I thought it was an airliner on fire about to crash to the ground. It then stopped dead in the sky and kept glowing and stayed there for about 10 seconds completely still and at this point I rubbed my eyes again and stopped a guy in the street to make sure he could see it. He was looking into the sky with our jaws dropping, then the orange ball went straight down in a horizontal line and just disappeared, exactly the same as the sighting below. Glad other people seen it. Hopefully we can get an explanation!

Marshalltown, Iowa - A Florescent Green Light
Date: January 2, 2009
Time: 7:25 p.m.
Between town and the airport (but I know for certain that it wasn't any lights from the airport) a florescent green light flew over the highway from east to west faster than any regular aircraft. We only saw it for about 10 seconds, and then it vanished.

Wombourne, Staffordshire, England - One Bright Orange Light
Date: January 3, 2009
Time: 12:45 a.m.
My husband and I have just seen what we believe to be an unexplained sighting in Wombourne, Staffordshire. Driving home around 12.45am 3rd January saw one bright orange light approaching from east. Pointed it to my husband saying looks like helicopter but with an unusual light. Seemed to be searching.
Then we saw another one a short distance away and then another. Moving fairly slow. We had stopped the car at this point to watch and even got out of car. The light from all three was a constant, very orange, much like a sodium street light. We had killed the engine to listen - but no sound what so ever. No apparent green, red lights. As we watched we decided to move just around the corner to get a better view over open field. They seemed to form a triangulation and then gradually disappear. This was one of the clearest nights with a mass of stars.
We drove towards a local small airfield & then on towards a military airfield but saw nothing else. On looking on your sight for sightings I noticed the one for Xmas day over Telford Shropshire - approx 10 miles away. Sighting seems very similar.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:
Hi John,
Thanks for your response.
I have looked at the video footage. Very interesting but I don't think it was balloon/lanterns.
The lights were very constant - quite solid/strong. Very much like a street light both in strength n colour.

East Brunswick, New Jersey - UFO Moving Fast And Erratically
Date: January 4, 2009
Time: 2:00 a.m.
To the naked eye, the object was a flashing still light, mostly white, some blue, and big flashes of red. We video taped it and played it back frame by frame. When we played it back, it actually was moving, fast erratically and other colors (green mostly) could be seen. When we paused certain frames, there are clear pictures of a round object with a raised center and 3 indentations from the center to the outside of the object. It moved so fast that the span of movement that appeared to us in real time on the DVD seemed to last several seconds but was actually only 1 second long. The object moved out of sight and instantaneously reappeared closer. The event began for us at approximately 2:00am and we watched it until around 2:30. At one point in time, we could still see it in the sky, but there was no image on the playback on the DVD, just tiny white flashes of the object as if it had moved farther away all over the screen.
I am not so arrogant to believe we are the only life in the universe, but I am a skeptic. This was not a star, planet, satellite, helicopter, airplane or anything else within "reason". The video speaks for itself. It has re-appeared tonight at around 12:50am but we are unable to get it on camera. Also, the Canadian geese are flying in whole flocks in the middle of the night.

Smyrna Beach, Florida - Large Bright Orange Object Seems To Explode
Date: January 8, 2009
Time: 9:45 p.m.
At first when I saw the object, I thought it looked like the moon exploding. It had to have been very large, my brain had to make logic of it, so the moon exploding were my first thoughts. I had my attention on it the whole time it was insight. It was glowing a very bright orange, in some areas brighter than others. It was like some sort of fission lighting like the sun. It was low to the ground, approximately at a 20 to 25 degree angle from where I was looking. I believe to the southwest over the trees about half a mile before the nsb exit heading south on 95 is when it came into sight. I watched it the whole time as my girl friend was driving to get off the off ramp to nsb. She also witnessed the object. We kept looking at it until we got onto 44 just passed the Shell station where it was out of sight because of the tree line and it being so low to the ground. We went back to investigate more but, by the time we had gotten back to our original location, it was gone.

Stewiacke, Nova Scotia - A Fast Moving Cigar Shaped UFO
Date: January 9, 2009
Time: 9:15 a.m.
An object to my right at about 2 o'clock high caught my attention as I was driving along the 102 between Stewiacke and Shubenacadie exits, just after crossing the Shubie river bridge. There was a very bright reflection from it and it had a mirror like finish. The sun was to my left and was hidden from my left vision by my visor. At first I thought it was a plane, about the size of an F18. It began to turn in an arc in front of me and then I noticed that it had no wings. There also was no vapor trail. It could have been about 1000 feet up or so. It moved very fast, after it finished the arc to the south, it sped away from me in a straight line and soon became just a shiny speck, then disappeared. The whole sighting lasted about 5 seconds as it was moving faster that any aircraft I have ever seen.

Wibsey Bradford, England - A Large Orange Shooting Object With A Trail
Date: January 9, 2009
Time: Approx: 6:45 p.m.
HBCC UFO Research Note: If anyone else observed this object, would you please contact Brian Vike at hbccufo@telus.net or go through his website at http://www.hbccufo.org or http://www.brianvike.com using the feedback or UFO reporting form. This is very important.
I looked up to see like a large orange shooting star with a trail that was very high and very fast moving heading towards Wissey round about, over Fair Road, Wissey Bradford, West Yorkshire, approximately 6:45/7:opt. With no means of camera or anything to record, you only have my word. I'm sorry, but was very weird. The trail and the light disappeared? It was too quick to get a camera anyway and I couldn't believe what I was seeing !

Sauchie, Alloa Near Stirling Glasgow, Scotland - Orange Glowing Ball Of Fire
Date: January 9, 2009
Time: Approx: 8.20 p.m.
After dropping a work colleague off at his home in Alloa at 8.10pm, I carried on my journey home to Falkirk. After driving through the village of Sauchie heading towards the new Clackmannan Road Bridge along the A907 I glanced up and was astonished to see a large bright orange ball like object in the sky. The object was moving in the opposite direction to me heading back over to the village of Sauchie and was around 200 to 500 feet above the ground.
I tried to stop the car so I could look back and keep track of the object but because of traffic behind me, but I was unable able to pull over until another mile further up the road at a parking stop. I stopped the car there and looked back towards the direction I had come from, but I could no longer see the object.
This thing was extremely strange looking which is why it caught my attention, a bright orange glowing ball, the edges of the ball had what looked like fingers of flames or some sort of fire like appearance, not large flames just noticeable at the edges of the ball shape. I only saw the object for around 8 to 10 seconds as it was moving towards me as I drove, but it was strange enough for me to know it was not a plane or a helicopter because the object was beneath the very low cloud cover, along with the fact it looked like no aircraft I have ever seen.

Middleton, South Leeds, England - A Circular Orange Colored Object
Date: January 9, 2009
Time: 6:40 p.m. to about 8:00 p.m.
An old friend of mine had called to see me at about 5:30 pm. We had a cuppa and when he was leaving, I went outside with him to his car to say goodbye. This was at 6:40 pm. It was him that pointed the "light in the sky" out to me. It seemed to be very high up, but very bright (I don't believe it was a star}it had a sort of orangey glow to it and seemed at times to flash. It was stationary, not seeming to move at all which intrigued me. I continued to watch it from outside and rung my daughter who lives a couple of streets away to see if she could see it. She was so intrigued that she came round to my house to get a better look, and whilst she had initially said it was a star, when she saw it, she had the same thoughts as me. We watched it until 7:30pm and it was in the same spot constantly.
We did notice however that there were a lot of aircraft flying around over the top and underneath "the light". We are on the flight path to Leeds Bradford airport, but at this time of year we don't see as many planes as there were last night. We guessed we had seen at least 15 to 20 planes on the space of 30 to 40 minutes. We came inside at about 7:40 because it was so cold, and when we went outside at about 7:45, the light had moved a considerable distance over to the right and further into the distance. Very strange.! My daughter and her partner went in the car to see of they could see what direction this light was going and she rung me from her mobile and said it seemed to be in the direction of Churwell hill (near Morley). They then had to go and see one of their friends, but when they returned via the same route, the light had totally disappeared. We tried to take photographs on our mobile phones and did catch something, but as you'll understand the cameras on them aren't that good. This has intrigued me so much, I would love to find out more.

Shoeburyness Southeast Essex, England - An Orange/Yellow Object
Date: January 11, 2009
Time: 2.30 a.m.
We saw an orange/yellow object moving across the sky. It was a dark sky so we couldn't estimate the height, but appeared to be going at a fast speed. There was no sound. It moved in a straight line and eventually out of sight.
